"My name is Susanne Gadegaard Nicolaisen. I am 39 years old and living in the Danish countryside, with my husband and son. I have always been a creative spirit and I´ve gone through many different medias to find the perfect way to be creative. I had a dream of becoming a fashion designer, but my life turned out differently and so now, I am a self-taught wedding accessories designer and just loving every minute of it."

"I was a very classic girl, dreaming of being a princess and drawing them over and over again. I find now, that I can make a princess tiara and so, in some way, I live the dream. I adore the Roaring Twenties and Old Hollywood Glamour, and these inspire a lot of the things I make. Also I search the internet and books for images and stories of accessories from ancient Greece and Rome, and also from the Art Nouveau period in Europe. There are countless beautiful things to be inspired by, and I always try to find a new way of working with the materials."

"Many times the process is organic, and some pieces take on a life of their own, and they become truly OOAK, as I cannot tell how they came to be:-) I seldom lack inspiration. Sometimes my biggest problem is remembering to draw or write ideas down, before they vanish again."

"Truely handmade for me, is that every step of the way is controlled by me. I draw the pattern, I embroider, I cut and form the petals of the flowers and so on. I love getting custom orders from brides, and I love to try to work "out of the box", doing things I haven´t tried before.. "

Let's Meet the Owner ~ Chalice

NiarandMe is a home decor shop which is comprised of hand made items which include picture frames, wreaths, office accents and more.  The shop is composed of 2 lines, Niara which is geared more towards adults, with calm cool colors and accents, and Me, which is a line full of vibrant colors, more geared toward children. NiarandMe is owned and founded by Chalice. For many years, creating items such as these has always been a hobby, however after throwing a birthday party for her daughter's first birthday and having the guests ask her where did she buy the picture frames, she decided that it was finally time to take her craft to the next level.

In addition to creating beautiful pieces, Chalice hopes to share do it yourself tutorials and her fashion bargains on her website (http://www.niarandme.com/). She is also planning to share her journey as she conquers a 3 month challenge to improve her life and she hopes that many of her fans will join in too.

When Chalice is not busy blogging and creating pieces, she is in her books, as she is
currently a graduate student. Although juggling these three tasks can be time

"The vintage goodies can range from pencils from the 1880s to a PacMan glass from the 1980s. I love recycling and reusing and do most of my personal shopping in thrift stores, or via handmade avenues. I am always going "treasure hunting" and love being able to share the vintage love."

"Living in New England I am fortunate to have plenty of beaches full of shells, driftwood, and seaglass, and also mountains and nature terrain to collect feathers, nests, leaves, wild flowers, and pebbles. These treasuries are either incorporated into the jewelry or a source of inspiration for the pieces.
 And, my dog, Pierce, loves getting to explore too!

Frida Kahlo is also a true source of inspiration for me. I am a social worker who works largely in womens empowerment issues and Frida was a groundbreaking female artist who turned pain into beauty." 



"I always price the items fairly--that is very important to me. If someone collects or adores something they see in my shop I want them to be able to afford to have it. I personally collect many vintage items, the top three are: fruit and vegetable salt and pepper shakers, vintage keys, and vintage stickers.
