Let's Meet the Owner ~ Christie

I have always loved to draw. It has always given me something to feel good about. I was very shy as a child and art allowed me to shine without having to speak. The words were in the images. It gave me an outlet through which I could express myself but it also gave me the confidence that I needed.

I graduated from art school and for a while I was very dedicated to “making “it in the art world but I found that showing in galleries wasn’t really for me.

Since having my two daughters, my priorities have, of course changed but art is still a big part of my life. However, I have changed the way I think about my art. When I was younger I dealt with huge topics like life and death in my art. I felt that every brush stroke carried a hidden meaning and I had to be ready to reveal that meaning at a moment’s notice. Now I feel that much of the meaning in my art comes from the act of creating. The quiet place in my mind that I can go when I am working is now more important to me than a finished painting filled with symbolism and concepts.

Right now I am painting small watercolor paintings and placing them in pendants. Who knows what I will be making in the future but for now I am really enjoying being a mom as well as having my own creations to work on when I need some time to myself.
